چکیده

Abstract We describe the measurement of brightness temperature Moon from space during a total lunar eclipse by using microwave sounder aboard weather satellite. Previous observations eclipses were inconsistent and did not cover frequency range between 100 200 GHz. In this work, we seek to establish reliable relationship drop in for millimeter wavelengths. For purpose, chose on 2004 October 28, because it coincided with appearances deep view Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit-B NOAA-15. It was therefore possible measure its disk-integrated radiance at 89, 150, 183 GHz minutes intervals. Our are, best our knowledge, only ones GHz, demonstrate nearly linear dependency maximum relative effective an eclipse. The slope function is m = 0.00114 ± 0.00017 −1 88–300 good agreement variations new radiative-transfer model suggests that suitable as flux standard beam sizes larger than 0.5°.

Aircraft validation of clear air absorption models at millimeter wavelengths (89–183 GHz)

[1] Measurements with an airborne microwave radiometer are used to validate absorption models in clear air at frequencies used in satellite microwave humidity sounders, such as AMSU-B and MHS. The data set includes 33 profiles of radiometric and in situ observations ranging from the tropics to the high arctic. In cold, dry conditions the MPM and Rosenkranz models were found to underestimate the...

LAND SURFACE EMISSIVITY ESTIMATION AT 89 AND 150 GHz FROM AMSU-B MEASUREMENTS

Most of the works on estimation of land surface emissivity from satellite radiometric measurements are performed at the frequencies d 100 GHz in the past two decades [1-3]. In the frequency range of AMSU-B (89-183 GHz) the land surface emissivity problems draw attention from scientific community recently mainly because of difficulty associated with precipitation retrievals over land. For liquid...

Variations in the sky brightness during a lunar eclipse

A total lunar eclipse is conjectured to have influence on the physical conditions of an environmental area, particularly on the brightness of the sky. The phenomenon might also be relevant on weather parameters change on Earth, such as temperature, humidity and pressure, though a straightforward correlation is not easy to establish. This work mainly aims at measuring the brightness of the sky a...

An airborne millimetre-wave radiometer at 183 GHz: receiver development and stratospheric water vapour measurements

The subject of this Ph.D. thesis is the redesign of an airborne water-vapour radiometer AMSOS (Airborne Millimetreand Submillimetre Observing System) and measurements conducted with the new receiver. The thesis consists of three parts and four publications. The publications are placed within the thesis after appropriate chapters. The first part is an introduction which addresses the scientific ...

The Observation of Lunar Impacts

The intense activity of cratering on the Moon and in the inner regions of the solar system was accomplished during the first 10 years [1]. Occasionally, some impact events occur even nowadays. In Section 1, we treat, from a historical point of view, the Earth-based observation of lunar impacts. In Section 2, we consider the visibility conditions of such events evaluating the luminosity of the b...
